Bellydancing with Charis
A charismatic woman with oodles of talent and a wicked sense of humour, Charis is a woman you cannot help but notice!
Charis started belly dancing at 19 and quickly fell in love with the dance style, the music and the energy of this dance. Her first teacher Zizi (Donna), a well known Belly Dance teacher on the Sunshine Coast assisted her in getting on the road to success through dance.
Since then Charis has had the pleasure and privilege to learn under some of the biggest names in the Belly Dancing business, such as: Nerissa (Brisbane), Bozenka (America), Michelle Joyce (America) and Tarik Sultan (America).
Charis performed solo for the first time in 2010, which earned her a position in the finals for the amateur division of the Belly Dance Star Awards, a national competition in Australia, which was held in Sydney.
Her passion for dance has driven her to study other dance styles such as Samba, Zouk-Lambada, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata and Reggaeton.
Charis is eager to share her love of belly dancing and believes that this feminine and graceful dance style can help women become more confident and appreciative of their bodies, get in touch with their sensuality, increase fitness and body awareness...as well as just being a way to make new friends and enjoy the company of other fabulous women!

Our class sizes are small so individual attention is maximised. Here's what a recent participant said:
"I'd tried yoga a few times before but had never really enjoyed it or 'got' why my friends raved about it. That was until I experienced a class at Yin Health. I found I really enjoyed the class and came away feeling relaxed and rejuvinated at the same time. Even though I had very little experience I was made to feel both welcome and comfortable in the class and was guided at each stage of the class. I can whole heartedly recommend Yin Yoga - in a single session it completely changed my view of what yoga was about and how much I could both benefit from it and enjoy it.
With thanks, Emma."

Restorative Meditation Yoga, Restorative Flow Yoga, Corporate yoga - Lindy Smith
Lindy's yoga journey commenced when she attended an Ashtanga Yoga Retreat in Byron Bay. She found yoga brought mindful awareness to her body, mind and spirit, giving her the opportunity to take time to check in with how she was truly feeling.
Lindy has always played competitive sport and was looking for a challenge that would be kinder on her body, enhance self-expression and eliminate the ego's need to win. She also needed to find balance in her work life and the skills she learned practicing yoga enabled her to shut off the mind chatter .
Lindy loved the way a consistent yoga practice made her feel, so she commenced a spiritual journey to cultivate self-love. This journey lead her to Yoga Teacher Training with Carrie-Anne Fields at 'My Health Yoga' where she could immerse myself and learn the techniques of teaching this Ancient Healing Practise and pass on the knowledge to others in her local community.
When Lindy rolls out her mat to teach, she enjoys stimulating the senses using music and essentail oils; challenging the body with postures whilst cultivating stillness in the mind through pranayama (breath work).
She aims to help others open and release stagnation in the body and mind and re-awaken those parts of ourselves that may have become dormant, simultaneously practising non-judgement.
Lindy says "Yoga is transformational on so many levels and coupled with self love we can experience growth and participate in that which brings us joy and bring us closer to our true nature, enabling us to explore our potential and flow with the rhythm of life. Enjoy the flow. Namaste"
Vinyasa Flow, Power yoga, Pregnancy yoga - Lisette McDonald
Meditation in her early twenties spawned a deeper understanding in Lisette of her spiritual self and the universal breath. Lisette's yogic journey then began in 1998, while in London, with a simple home practice. On returning to Australia she studied massage and is certified in Swedish and Remedial.
She found the mat again when she fell pregnant..and it wasn't until her close friend and guru took her through a one-on-one, as a part of her own teaching training, that she knew she wanted to teach yoga and its embrace of equanimity.
Completing her level one with My Health Yoga in 2009 she has been teaching Hatha/Vinyasa since 2010. Continually taking part in local workshops and training events, Lisette embraces the magnetic qualities of yoga and its ability to change person to person, its connectivity in the community and the elevation throughout the world. Yoga is transformative.
She believes that when a person is receptive to personal evolution, yoga helps them cultivate a placid heart, opens their eyes to living fully with love, become actively awake in their world and passively still enough to hear the inner calm.
Lisette is passionate about feeding her mind body and soul with vibrant energies...and hopes to help her community to understand their senses and the energy that drives them.

Pregnancy Yoga, Yoga for Beginners, Kids Yoga, Mums n Bubs yoga - Melina Alarcon
Yoga has always been part of Melina's life, watching her mother practice a few asanas at home. While studying Phys. Ed. at University Melina worked in a Project in a low socio-economic area, teaching dance to teenagers and their mums.
That's when her journey through healing started. Melina looked for something more holistic that would help her to understand the connection between body, mind and spirit so she could pass that on to others. That's when Melina started to practice Yoga.
She began practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa after she had her first baby and it became a real passion. Yoga helped Melina get through a lot of the difficulties and insecurities a first mum has.
She did a training course in Yoga Ayurvedic Massage in Brazil and when she moved to Australia, started a Teacher Training Course with My Health Yoga. Meanwhile Melina fell pregnant for second time. Practicing and studying Yoga while pregnant also gave her strength physically and psychologically to give birth to another beautiful baby.
This made Melina interested in teaching Yoga to other pregnant women to help them get their body and mind aware, focused and prepared to look after themselves in this life stage which is full of changes and surprises.
The mother of 4, retired to the Sunshine Coast in 2007 after teaching primary school for 18 years. Her lifestyle slowed down and new opportunities arose with one of her main passions..…exercise!
Staying fit and healthy has always been an integral part of Merle’s lifestyle and it all started in her 30’s when she was juggling raising 4 children whilst completing her University studies to gain her teaching qualifications. Aerobics dominated the 80’s fitness scene and Merle took to classes immediately as an outlet for her busy life! Over the years she integrated Yoga and Pilates into her weekly workout routines and after retiring it was only natural for her to continue to pursue those interests.
She became inspired by her Yoga/Pilates’ teacher and in 2011 embarked on another journey of self fulfilment studying for a Certificate 111 in Fitness, as well as a Yoga Level 1 Teaching Certificate and Pilates Mat Certification.
Merle believes that Pilates has many benefits as it is a whole body workout that strengthens ligaments and joints, increases stamina and flexibility creating a taller, slimmer, supple and well toned body as well as encouraging good posture, balance and co-ordination. The beauty of both Pilates and Yoga is that they are suitable for all ages.
Merle’s ultimate aim is to motivate and inspire her clients enabling them to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.
