Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture

For centuries, the Chinese have taught how to achieve balance in life using the concept of Yin and Yang, which are present in human beings and in all of nature.
Traditional Chinese medicine includes acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, Chinese massage, dietary therapy and lifestyle coaching. These tools are used in varying combinations depending on your condition.
At Yin Health, our Chinese Medical Practitioner Georgia Roberts also specialises in women’s health, including Gynaecology/Obstetrics, Fertility and IVF.
The theory behind traditional Chinese medicine is to restore balance within the body. Disease arises when Yin and Yang are out of balance, which means that one or the other is deficient or in excess.
Treatment seeks to correct your individual pattern of imbalance, so that health can be restored.

Everything is connected in Chinese medicine. The focus is not on individual symptoms, but rather on solving the problem of the underlying disharmony. Once solved, not only does your symptom disappear but so do many of your other seemingly unrelated health complaints.
Treatments also present a unique angle of attack, providing an extra option for those people that modern medicine has been unable to help.

Chinese Medicine
Conditions Commonly Treated with Chinese Medicine:

- Gynaecological: Painful periods, early periods, late periods, heavy periods, irregular periods, absence of periods, mid-cycle spotting, PMS, infertility, IVF assistance, threatened miscarriage, hyperemesis (morning sickness), breech presentation, posterior presentation, preparation for labour, insufficient lactation.

- IVF: Acupuncture treatment (combined with massage and herbs in the case of Chinese Medicine) is tailored to the individual and their journey through IVF. Some will experience severe side effects – moods, swelling, pain, restlessness, insomnia, food cravings and the common emotional rollercoster that is so common among women on the IVF path.
“Treatment aims to assist in elimination during the period, quality endometrial lining and follicle growth leading up to pick up and miscarrage prevention up until 12 weeks. Acupuncture has been proven through medical research trials to increase IVF success rates – current preliminary evidence suggests that acupuncture given with embryo transfer improves rates of pregnancy and live birth among women undergoing in vitro fertilisation (BMJ 7th Feb 2008)”
- Neurological: Headache, migraine, sciatica, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, sequelae of stroke, tooth ache, tinnitus.
- Muscular-skeletal: Sports injuries, traumatic injuries, broken bones, tendon and ligament damage, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, back pain, stiff neck and shoulders, carpal tunnel, repetitive strain injuries.
- Mental health/addictions/other: Quit smoking, addictions, insomnia, stress, anxiety, depression, hearing and vision problems, macular degeneration, hepatitis, glandular fever.
- Side effects of modern drugs: Undergoing a heavy drug therapy such as for cancer, HIV or hepatitis, Chinese medicine can be a support for this treatment.
Incidences of negative interactions between Chinese medicine and modern drugs are rare. In most cases, the use of the two medical systems side-by-side simply gives enhanced results.
