Chiropractic

Chiropractic Services

Chiropractors Sunshine Coast
Chiropractic is a health care discipline based on the scientific premise that the body is a self-regulating, self-healing organism. These important functions are controlled by the brain, spinal cord, and all the nerves of the body. “Chiropractic” comes from the Greek word Chiropraktikos, which means “done by hand.”

The practice of chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily the spine, pelvis and cranial system) and function (as co-ordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health.

Naturopathy

Yin Health - naturopathic medicine

Naturopathy

One of the key philosophies of Naturopathic Medicine is that all living organisms possess a self-regulatory, inherent ability to heal. This inherent ability, often referred to as innate intelligence or Vital Force operates in an orderly, logical fashion.

Naturopathy is a holistic method of healing that supports this innate ability to restore balance and overcome disease.

Naturopathic practitioners seek to identify the underlying cause(s) of your illness, and aim to re-establish your body's normal function.

Podiatry

Podiatry in the family Yin HealthPodiatrists are highly skilled health professionals trained to deal with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of medical and surgical conditions of the feet and lower limbs. Podiatrists have completed a bachelor of Podiatry or higher degree, and are continually upgrading their skills and knowledge through further education and training.

The Podiatrist, (podos = foot in Greek), can help with advice and treatment for most problems concerning the feet. People with long term foot and leg problems often "shrug them off" and blame their problem on on the inevitable, because "Grandmother/father had it". To a certain extent we do inherit some of our foot structure as part of our genetic makeup but other factors such as disease, trauma and environment also play a role. You are not alone if you have a foot related problem, some people suffer in silence whilst many others seek a helping hand from their Podiatrist.

You have heard a lot about the need for "Diabetics to look after their feet" but who do you go to, a Podiatrist of cause. It is better to be safe than sorry is an old saying and this applies especially for your Annual Diabetic Foot review.

"Podiatrists are trained to provided specialised advice and treatment to people living with Diabetes"

• People living with Diabetes are twice as likely to experience foot problems compared to those not affected by the disease.

• National diabetes guidelines recommend podiatry assessment at least every 12 months for people diagnosed with diabetes.

• The role of the podiatrist in providing appropriate foot care assessment, education, management, and the prevention and treatment of more serious foot problems for people with diabetes is well recognised by all health care professionals.

• With early assessment and proper care there is no reason why most foot problems cannot be prevented or overcome. It is possible to have healthy feet and diabetes.Podiatry Yin Health

Be Kind to your Feet because they get around

On average, you take 5000-8000 steps daily, covering approximately 120 000 kms in your lifetime.

Your feet absorb 1.5 times your body weight when you walk, 3.5 to 4 times when you run, more when you jump, and a total of almost 1000 tons of force a day.

Your feet have around 250 000 sweat glands which on average, perspire a cup of moisture each day.

Preventive approach to sports injuries

Since sports demand a lot of your feet, you need to take special care of them. A preventative approach is the best way to reduce your risk of injury.

Stretching and conditioning are vital components in any sport. A goof conditioning program develops strength , speed, endurance, flexibility, agility and faster reaction time. It is very important for the athlete to be properly conditioned in order to maintain her health and wellbeing.

Structural variations in the foot, leg or hip may function quite well in everyday life, however problems often arise when these structures are required to deal with the enormous stresses from physical sporting activities.

Your Podiatrist can help by assessing your structure and assist you achieve your sporting goals.
